Increased Self-Understanding Through DNA Testing
This test provides you with information about how your genes affect your appetite and eating behaviour, and how your body is affected by different types of fat in your food. The test results can offer valuable insights into the ideal diet and exercise regimen that best suits your genetic profile. Being overweight or obese are often due to several factors in which your genes play a major role.
Could you be predisposed to be overweight?
There are several different genes that affect obesity, blood lipids and BMI. The link between genetics and diet has been thoroughly studied; some people can eat whatever they want without gaining or losing weight, whilst others face immense struggles to lose weight, depending in part on what genes they have.
This test examines four different genes (FTO, PPARG, APOA5 and FABP2). By testing these, you will find out:
- If you are predisposed to be overweight, and how such a predisposition can be countered by physical activity.
- How your body reacts to monounsaturated fats (e.g. olive oil and rapeseed oil), and how eating more or less of these can reduce your BMI.
- If increasing your total fat intake would result in an increased or a decreased BMI.
- If you have a predisposition to or an increased risk for higher levels of blood lipids, such as having high cholesterol.
Fast, Safe and Easy
Everything you need from the test is contained in the package that we ship discreetly directly to your door. Simply take the test at home, and submit the prepaid shipment to our top quality laboratory for DNA analysis.
Within just five business days of when we receive it, we’ll post the results of the test on our website, along with information that provides detailed understanding of what those results mean for you.
The results we provide are at least 99.5% accurate, and are just as safe and rigorous as if you had performed the test with a doctor.
More about the results: Several genes affect being overweight, blood fats and the BMI. This test examines 4 different genes: FTO, PPARG, APOA5 and FABP2. The FTO gene provides information about whether you are predisposed to being overweight, and whether you can prevent becoming overweight through physical activity. PPARG and APOA5 show how the body reacts to the intake of monounsaturated fats (such as olive oil and canola oil), and whether you can reduce your BMI by eating more of these. These genes also show whether a higher total fat intake results in a higher or lower BMI. FABP2 shows whether you are predisposed to and at greater risk of high levels of blood fats, including cholesterol. It is possible to remedy high levels of blood fats by replacing saturated fats and trans fats in your diet with unsaturated fats.
